To achieve that rich, pillow-soft texture that mimics rolling waves, I used stunning 10-ply gradient cotton yarn. The gradual shift from a sandy beige to a deep marine blue does all the heavy lifting for you—no weaving in dozens of color-change ends!

The "Sand & Sea" Shawl — Free Pattern Version
Ready to make your own? Here is the foundational pattern to get you started! This version features a gorgeous 4-row repeat that builds a beautifully textured, breathable fabric.
Materials Needed:
Yarn: 10-ply gradient cotton yarn (approx. 800–1000 meters depending on desired size).
Hook:3.5mm (Tulip Etimo highly recommended!)
Scissors & Tapestry needle.
Stitch Key (US Terms):
ch: Chain
sc: Single Crochet
dc: Double Crochet
Puff Stitch (puff): [Yarn over, insert hook, yarn over, pull up a loop to dc height] 4 times into the same space. Yarn over, pull through all loops. Ch 1 to close.
Pattern Instructions:
Setup: Make a Magic Ring.
Row 1:
Ch 3 (counts as dc). Into the ring, work: 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc. Turn. *(Your triangle base is born!)*
Row 2:
Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in the very first st. Ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 sc in next dc. Ch 1. In the center ch-2 space work: **[1 puff, ch 2, 1 puff]** (Center Peak). Ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 sc in next dc. Ch 1, work 3 dc into the top of the turning chain. Turn.
Row 3:
Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in the first st. Ch 1, 1 puff in each of the next two ch-1 spaces (separate them with a ch 1). In the center ch-2 space work: **[1 puff, ch 2, 1 puff]**. Work **[ch 1, 1 puff]** in the next two ch-1 spaces. Ch 1, work 3 dc into the top of the turning chain. Turn.
Row 4 (Mesh Setup):
Ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1), 2 dc in the first st. **[Ch 1, skip puff, 1 dc in ch-1 space]** repeat across to center. Ch 1. In center ch-2 space work: **[1 dc, ch 2, 1 dc]**. **[Ch 1, 1 dc in ch-1 space]** repeat to last puff. Ch 1, skip puff, work **[2 dc, ch 1, 1 dc]** into the turning chain. Turn.
Row 5:
